This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. For one, if you can actually speak to someone in less than an hour on hold - consider yourself lucky.
They never, or rarely answer. They cannot blame their poor customer service on Covid because it's always been this way. They have given me the wrong information and when I acted upon it, the next person states that there is no way a rep could have told me that. I told them to check their recordings.
They have sent me the loan information on their other customers, they have sent me a letter that my loan is paid off and when I actually do get to speak with someone, they never follow up as they promised. Emails have not been answered.
I can't wait to get rid of this company. They should not even get one star in any area, but that is not an option, so I had to give them 1.

Trying to cancel accounts/ live in AZ ... you sold all branches here...did not get a notice...has taken over 6 months to move my accounts...email me that these 2 accounts have been cancelled

Fraud with checking account
I was notified by my bank that someone tried to take almost 2000.00 out my account by Cash App.com. I told them I did not do it and don't know what app that is.
They read off a few more that I didn't know. The next day I found someone had taken out $1000.00 out of my account from Cash App.com again. I called customer service (after a 37 min. Wait) and they froze my account and said they'll investigate it.
I told them I need my money or some to pay bills and eat. I was told I would have to wait 5-7 days. I admit I lost my temper. He was rude and unwilling to help.
Then I checked my account two days later and found they charged me 4 overdraft fees and still allowed that person to get the $1000.00 out. I've been trying to contact them again but good luck. I was on hold for 47 min. And still told I had to wait.
All my bills are past due now and I still cannot get my money.
My advice to anyone wanting to deal with TCF is DON'T. I'm still trying to get this cleared up.

Unable to make payment or sign up for auto pay
I have been trying to contact TCF bank since August 10th when they rolled out a new "payment platform". I wanted to sign up, again, for direct payment, as I had done prior.
When I attempted to sign up, I got a message that my account was not valid, and that I needed a note number. Nowhere on my most recent payment coupon was there a "loan note number".
I have been calling almost every day since the 10th, at all times of day, to speak with someone about this, and to try to make a payment, but I have been put on hold EVERY time for more than an hour at a time, then disconnected, or I had to hang up.
As a last ditch effort, I sent in my payment, hoping it would get the TCF before the due date. I am so angry and frustrated beyond words. I will NEVER willingly take out another loan through TCF.
There is NO customer service.
Period.
I better not get a late charge or a ding on my credit report. -
Preferred solution: Ability to sign up for auto pay, NO late charge for August and no negative credit reporting if payment reached TCF late
